Human Resource Executive® has been recognized for over 30 years as the premier publication focused on strategic issues in Human Resources.  Written primarily for vice presidents and directors of human resources, the magazine provides these key decision-makers with news, profiles of HR visionaries and success stories of human resource innovators. Stories cover all areas of human resource management, including HR technology, talent management, benefits and healthcare, training and development, relocation, retirement planning, and employment law.  We are currently looking for a Staff Writer to develop polished, well-written stories for the publication and web site.


As a Staff Writer, you will interview industry professionals to write weekly news pieces for the magazine’s website and feature stories for the monthly print issue.  In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Generating story ideas for both the magazine and electronic products
  • Editing and proofreading news pieces and articles
  • Managing the workflow for advertorial articles
  • Building a network of sources
  • Moderating webinars on occasion
  • Traveling to cover conferences and events
  • Overseeing selected projects

Position Requirements

  • 4-year college degree
  • 2 years of writing experience for a newspaper, print magazine, or website
  • Proven ability to interview sources by phone and face-to-face
  • Experience working in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proven ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Ability to provide writing samples
  • Ability to travel 4-5 times per year to attend conferences and events

Desired Qualifications:

  • B2B writing experience
  • Familiarity with human resources field
  • Journalism or communications degree
  • Understanding of technology issues
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and WordPress
