LRP Publications is a leading national conference provider and thriving publisher of business-to-business online services, magazines, books and more. We are currently looking for a talented Senior Writer/Editorw ith a background in writing technology to join our Magazine Group’s Human Resource Executive® magazine. HRE was established in 1987 and continues to be the premier publication for content that is focused on strategic issues within HR. Written primarily for Vice Presidents and Directors of Human Resources, the magazine provides key decision-makers with news, profiles of HR visionaries, and success stories of human resource innovators.


The Senior Writer/Editor is responsible for writing and editing regular features and news stories for Human Resource Executive® magazine, HRE Daily and other HRE-affiliated products.  Using strong interpersonal skills, the Writer/Editor will cultivate sources for stories while generating a steady flow of story ideas for all publications. This position will also support HRE’s Webinar Series — identifying and guiding speakers as well as moderating events. Target audience includes HR leaders and others affiliated with the profession.


The position includes weekly and monthly deadlines, although some projects may require a longer time horizon. In addition, there will be a moderate level of travel, with roughly three to four business trips a year. 




  • Writing a monthly feature for the magazine (also posted on the web).
  • Writing a weekly HRE Daily post.
  • Writing news stories for the website.
  • Assisting with copy editing certain news/column/feature stories.
  • Generating a regular flow of fresh story ideas.
  • Attending and covering events/conferences (an estimated three or four a year).
  • Conducting several video interviews per year.
  • Assisting in the proofing of copy.
  • Working with Graphic Services on the design and layout of selected magazine stories.
  • Overseeing a couple of projects per year (survey report, ranking, etc.).


Position Requirements

  • 4-year college degree
  • 4 years of proven writing / editing / reporting experience for a newspaper, print magazine, or website
  • Proven ability to interview sources by phone and face-to-face
  • Experience working in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proven ability to write clearly and concisely about technology
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively cultivate relationships with potential sources
  • Ability to provide business writing samples
  • Ability to travel three to four times per year to attend conferences and events

Desired Qualifications:

  • B2B writing experience
  • Knowledge of human resources and/or workplace issues
  • Understanding of journalistic and professional ethics
  • Journalism or communications degree
  • Understanding of technology issues
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and WordPress
